Food is awesome. We had a Chicago style hot dog with Jalapenos added. Also ordered a Philly cheese steak sandwich which had cheese, mushrooms and green peppers all sauteed on a nice soft hoagie bun. I asked for a packet of mayonnaise. Might get banana peppers added next time. The sandwich was huge. The beef was loaded on and was very tender. Order at window and sit outside at tables. Will definitely be trying their other menu items. No malts made here unfortunately.

One of the best beef sandwiches I have ever had outside of Chicago, If you are ever in the area stop in for some great Chicago style food. Friendly atmosphere. Cash only but they have an ATM.

If you see a line waiting to order , jump in fast!! This unassuming little place is worth it completely. Over the years we've tried nearly everything on the Menu and you can't go wrong with any choice!! Daily specials are a bonus. But will suggest starting out with Friday Fish Fry or the Above standard Chicago Dog The Staff always has Smiles and quick with excellent service!!

It is IMPOSSIBLE to get this kind of food this far away from Chicago, or any major city for that matter. Every single item on this menu is awesome! Great wings, awesome garlic steak sandwich, the Chicago dog? Forget about it! Pizza puffs? I mean come on man! Great owners and staff. Tori is a MASTER at running a restaurant, I wish JJ was my personal chef, and Karen seems to do her job like its second nature, and is in a perpetual good mood! If you don't try this place, you are SERIOUSLY missing out on a true jem!

What a neat little local hole in the wall. I was looking for a quick little lunch option for myself and three of my kids and I wasn't disappointed. Every other place in town seemed a little higher-end, and I wasn't looking to throw down 100 for lunch, so I decided to give this place a shot. Pros: locally owned, unique eatery. Good food at good prices. Their French fries were hands down some of the best I've had, and they even have gyros on the menu. Cons: Walk-up, take out only. There are seating options outside, but it was a pretty warm day. Overall, I loved this place. In a sea of franchises and chains, this place stands out. I saw many locals grab a quick lunch here, and as they say, "When in Rome..."

This is a fine example of the classic old fashioned one-of-kind roadside eateries that used to be so common in small-towns across the country, but which have now become quite rare, largely replaced by the uniformly bland and uninteresting fast food joints like McDonald's and Taco Bell that now blight the fast food landscape from coast to coast. The House of Dogs offers a wide variety of uniquely American specialties such as Chicago-style hot dogs (served up on poppy seed buns), Italian beef sandwiches (with mozzarella cheese and banana peppers), hot tamales, meatball or sausage subs, french fries, onion rings, milkshakes, sodas and malts, and many other authentic specialties of mid twentieth century food-stand cuisine. Highly recommended.

This is a hidden gem and must go-to stop if passing by Eagle River. The service was extremely friendly, the kind of hometown friendly that makes you feel like you’re back home. As for the food, it’s sooooo delicious! We got the chicken bacon ranch, Chicago dog and fries and it was probably best we’ve had. Chicago you got some competition up here ;) Great spot and dog friendly.
